Topology Optimization

Also known as: topology optimisation, structural optimization, structural optimisation

Letting an algorithm decide where material should and shouldn't sit, given the loads — so the structure earns every gram it keeps.

Topology Optimization

As a structural engineer I used topology optimization to find the lightest shape that still carries the load: you define the forces and the constraints, and the algorithm strips material from everywhere it isn’t needed.

What stayed with me is the mindset, not the math. Start from the load the thing has to carry, then remove everything that doesn’t carry it. I run product backlogs the same way — name the job, keep the few features that bear it, delete the rest.
